A very personal view on restaurants and travel

La Brunilda Seville Review: Top Tapas!

It was Sunday, we were a little footsore having walked the length and breadth of Seville, and, if truth be told, I was a tiny bit hangry. I might complain about TripAdvisor, but if you know how to look, there are still a few decent recommendations there. We narrowed it down to 2, and after a few navigational mishaps, finally found La Brunilda.

As it turns out, it was unnecessary to go and look at the second option, but only one of us buys the first pair of shoes they see, and I was not in charge of the final dining decision…

Anyhow, pleased we chose it. As you can see, it is an extremely attractive restaurant. Perhaps a little modern and stripped down for my parents (in case they read this and decide to go), but very much to our taste. If IKEA did chic restaurants, this would be the showroom.

I do have one complaint, and it is one that echos across almost every establishment in Seville. You cannot get decent priced bottled water, and there is no such thing as a “large” bottle of sparkling water.

2 Euros for 330ml! That is worse than London. And Seville is a lot hotter than London. That said, everything is 3x the price of Seville in London, so it is perhaps a churlish complaint, but I do wonder if perhaps someone sinister controls the exclusive rights to supply water to Sevillian restaurants and bars…

Anyhow, Tapas is made for lunch and definitely made for sharing. Everything here was good, in fact excellent.

It is hard to choose which was best. We had Cod balls, Duck confit with spiced carrot cream, Salmon with mash and sweet chilli, and a Beef skewer on sweet potato. Even the breadsticks were good (sadly, the bread was the same disappointing standard as almost everywhere else)

50 Euros, including some beer and wine, it was a steal for the quality.

Add it to your lunch list!
