Stag and Huntsman Hambleden Review: Great Walking Lunch Stop

If you veer off the Thames Path north of Henley, there are a limited number of places to stop for lunch. If you are doing a loop, you could stop at the Flowerpot in Remenham, but I would strongly recommend stopping here.

We were actually lucky to get a table. On a Friday lunchtime, it filled up pretty quickly. Also, I think if we had been in “muddy walker” guise, which we have been in the past, we would have been less welcome (or at least shorn of boots), as it was quite posh. That said, the all-Australian crew were extremely friendly.

Beer was very good – Mainly provided by the Rebellion Beer Company, who I have not encountered before, but will look for again.

However the food was a cut above. A simple Cheese Toastie and a Venison Steak Sandwich were perfectly executed and exactly what we needed.

£25 for lunch, including service, was well worth it.
